My mother was, I think, fair to say, a snob in some respects.
She didn't like abbreviations.
My name was to include my father's name because his father had been an Alexander and his father had been an Alexander.
But she felt if my initials were M-A-C, people would call me Mac, and she simply couldn't bear it.
She didn't want a Mac in the family.
No Macs here, please.
Gosh.
So I had this stone around my neck.
I mean, that's in my passport.
Yeah, it was never going to be called Alexander.
It was literally for the initials.
I think I have images of baths.
I think I have a memory of being put in the garden in a pram.
But I had a recent thing in my garden, one bit of my garden I was lying in on a sunny day.
And I was having these, when we were little, my dad bought a pig shed in Mallorca.
And every summer holidays, we'd go out there, not every summer holidays.
A pig shed, did you say?
A pig shed and a bit of land.
And he sort of converted the shed, put another floor in it.
And it was quite basic.
