We were kind of a kind of a sing-song house.

I can remember being on my mother's knee as a small girl.

Now, she wouldn't have been somebody that would sing at a party at home.

But she and her sister, in the kitchen, they'd sing things like Kevin Barry and they knew all the words, all the ballads.

But my father's family, they were just so gregarious and they were party lovers.

And we loved at Christmas when we'd be going, you know the way at Christmas you used to go to every aunt and every uncle, you see the same people in different houses one night after the other.

And we as kids used to love going over to, say, our aunt in Dundrum and to marry, because she was a great singer as well.

Her party piece was Sip and Cider Through a Straw.

And my father's party piece, which is one of the pieces I've chosen, because it reminds me so much

of those happy times.

I mean, when I was examining it for the purposes of coming in here, I was looking at the lyrics and they're pretty, A, they're raunchy and B, they're pretty violent.

But it was his party piece and everybody wanted to hear it.

And I love the memory that that gives of my dad because he died quite young.

He was 59 and he had a heart attack on a golf outing from work.

And I was 21 and I always ask myself now,

I loved him.

I adored him.

And I was the eldest, so I was probably his pet.

We were.
