Well, look, by-elections are a peculiarity of our system.
The first count tally was a closely run thing.
I mean, I think our candidate, Janice Boylan, performed very, very well.
We ran a very good campaign.
But at the end of the day, by-elections are decided by transfers.
And I don't think anybody listening to this programme would be terribly surprised that Fine Gael voters won.
are not going to transfer to Sinn Féin.
And it was ultimately those votes that decided the contest.
