As reporter covering the debates on Capitol Hill over should we create some kind of intelligence supremo, a supreme spy leader and uh Senator Jay Rockefeller, who was on the intelligence committee, chaired it first part of these debates, was backing.

Calling it the National Intelligence Director.

Which seemed like a really great idea, except that then it would be the NID and that was overruled uh wisely.

But um

Jane, OD and I was controversial when it was created.

It is possibly even more controversial today, should we keep it?

supposed to make the the CIA and the NSA and the FBI and all the others connect the dots and share with the other.

I mean has it worked at all?

CIA wasn't uh a lot of people at CIA were not big fans of this idea either.

Is it worth keeping at this point?
