So you can be confident if you find like a really tiny point, you're probably dealing with the bow and arrow.

we focused our analysis on this atlatl, the bow transition in Western North America.
And that's where stuff preserved either in super dry caves, like in the Southwest or if it's melting out of like ice.

Well, what our research doesn't speak to is was the bow invented in Western North America or was it invented somewhere else?
Maybe somewhere in the East.
And then it,
into western north america 1400 years ago we have no idea you know and that's a tough question because just stuff does not preserve in the eastern woodlands uh that well it's too much seasonality too much moisture um and just organic materials just get decimated so you wouldn't be shocked if you if you heard and i appreciate what you're saying like we we don't know but you wouldn't be
And then for some reason it was lost when extinct.
And then nine, 10,000 years later was reinvented 1400 years ago.
Um, I think what this research really speaks to is the fact that like, you know, we often think that we're getting better and better and better with our technology.
