I'm quite low penalty in my kind of fantasy stewarding world anyway.
I don't actually offer a penalty for much.
I just kind of go, that's racing, just get on with it.
But in this case, if you were trying to throw down a marker after the Melbourne pile-up and go, someone should be penalised here to make a point, you look at the person, you just weave the hell out of everyone off the start line towards the pit wall and then slid into someone else and pushed them wide while breaking your own front wing.
There is no way at all that there's a coherent case for a Montoya penalty in that incident.

But it's on that line of, this is hard racing.
He's not squeezing Schumacher off the road.
He's not driving like Schumacher doesn't exist.
It doesn't help as well, I think, from an overall perception.
This is the era when F1 favouring Ferrari, the FIA favouring Ferrari, keeps coming up as a topic and a controversy.
And I don't think there's a lot in it, not as much as it felt at the time when I was being young and angry about the whole thing and a little bit fed up with Schumacher and Ferrari domination and how they were going about things.
Yeah.
It's the Schumacher opponent who gets penalised in this situation and that fits a broader narrative that is just a bit dispiriting at this point.
He would have definitely been entitled to space under the current rules.
The lob it down the outside and get ahead somehow rule was made for Montoya, wasn't it?
He thrived under that.
there is it no it's going to be a few laps in surely not halfway through that sequence of corners really interesting that jordan even thought of that being a conversation though because sato's qualified like seven places behind fizzy keller and a lot slower at this point in that season and they've put him on a light fuel i guess to make up ground from the bad qualifying and they expect him to be quick enough to catch fizzy keller quick you know that being realistic enough to even have that conversation was quite quite striking for me because i'd look at that and go yeah you're not getting anywhere near fizzy but they do come they do end up in the same place of track
And on lap one, they've been a lot of cars apart.
