I don't know the exact numbers off the top of my head, but he was a handful of votes just over a year ago away from being the Senate Republican leader and successor to Mitch McConnell and ended up falling to the Thune in a three-way race that happened.
Remember, Rick Scott got in and tried to challenge it and shook the whole thing up.
But Cornyn was only just a handful of votes away from being Mitch McConnell's successor.
So for us to be a little over a year later now, and he's on the cusp of possibly not even making the runoff in his own primary.
after spending tens of millions of dollars.
This is a total defenestration of the donor class.
And I mean, it's the biggest embarrassment I've ever seen the guys at the Senate Leadership Fund.
If the Senate goes Democrat in November,
We will look back at this moment and say this is why, because they blew tens of millions of dollars on a guy that is struggling very badly right now.
And now that being said, again, nothing's over until it's over, until all the votes are counted and so on and so forth.
And no votes have been cast yet.
So it's not over yet.
But what we're seeing here are early signs that the Republican establishment is in total collapse in the state of Texas.
And frankly, there's a lot of things to like about both Ken Paxton and Wesley Hunt.
I know both of them personally.
By the way, I know John Cornyn personally, too.
I've interviewed him many times over the years.
Nothing personal against Senator Cornyn.
But what I'm telling you is that what the numbers seem to suggest, what we're seeing right now, is that Cornyn appears to be in collapse a few weeks before this primary date and may not even make the runoff election.
