That's wrong.
So there's a lot we can do to deal with the wealth inequality in this country.
But a wealth tax targeting 200 people in one state is doomed to backfire and mean higher costs for middle class families.
It's not about defending the billionaires though.
It's just like โ I mean you have to think about the second-order effects of things.
And the truth is โ I mean again, we've got to be honest with people and trust that people are smart.
People will get it.
They will โ if you are โ if you respect them enough to tell them the truth โ
I think you, over time, break through and people get it.
It won't be the billionaires who pay this tax if it's passed.
It'll be the rest of us.
Yeah, yeah, they are.
They're in favor of a lot of things that don't make sense, frankly, and they'd rather blame Donald Trump for all of our problems.
And look, I have deep concern about Donald Trump.
We've sued him a number of times in San Jose, and I'll fight him as hard as anybody as governor.
But again, if the Democratic Party in California isn't willing to take ownership of our public policy failures and start bringing down the cost of housing, of the cost of energy and improving our public schools,
We've got another thing coming.
We're going to see a MAGA movement in California, which is what scares me.
So let's actually start owning our problems and take control of our destiny and make government work for people.
