And obviously it's gone in the right direction, but he called it just a tickle.
So is that enough for him to keep interested and wanting to stay on the grid?
It would seem not at this point necessarily.
But the other point, as well as the sort of disdain he has for the rules, you wonder how authentic this argument against it is if he's at the front of the grid.
If he's consistently at the front of the grid, does that go away?
Because the competitive animal then gets fed.
He says not.
He said if he's at the front of the grid, I'd still have the same issue with it.
And so I guess there's that point of he seems like he's being truthful, but if suddenly Red Bull are winning races –
Does that then keep him on the grid?
It might be quieter, the criticism in that.
But I still have a disdain for it internally, I guess.
Do you get a sense of a nervousness from Formula 1 FIA, for example, of that threat, of his genuine threat?
Will they kowtow to him with his demands?
Because you don't want to lose the very best driver.
In a sport that's pretty obsessed with the headlines and all that, that would be about the worst look imaginable.
He's the hard-nosed racer.
Exactly, yeah.
I mean, that's seismic.
If he keeps on pushing that message, then do people, you know, all these new fans they've lured to the sport, do they start, I don't know, looking else?
