So how we build inventories is seasonal based on seasonal demand. voice-verified

So in the summer, spring and summer months, we actually build a cushion of diesel inventory because we're not using all the heating oil, you know, and all that stuff. voice-verified

So we kind of build up an inventory and then we get into winter, we have extra for the winter and voice-verified

This is why diesel markets have been tight for years though. voice-verified

It's because it's it's always been a very tight market for quite a long time. voice-verified

Uh and now we're not gonna have the inventory we need for winter. voice-verified

Now, the United States isn't going to run out of diesel, but there are a lot of places around the world that are going to have significant problems. voice-verified

And so our inventory is down to a 30-year low. voice-verified

It's right at 107 million barrels, I believe, um, which is really low for diesel inventories. voice-verified

Another problem is the type of crude oil. voice-verified

that makes the most amount of diesel is the simplest way to put it. voice-verified

Uh heavier middle distillate and heavier crudes produce more diesel than gasoline. voice-verified

And that just happens to be the kind of oil that comes out of the Middle East, right? voice-verified

And also when you look at our SPR, roughly half of the oil in our SPR was that kind of diesel, and the other half was light crude. voice-verified

Now you can still make diesel with light oil, but it doesn't matter voice-verified

Make as much, right? voice-verified

So even if we got, say we got the refining capacity back. voice-verified

but the oil wasn't back yet, we would still have a diesel shortage because that's the oil that makes the most diesel and we already refine on those very thin margins. voice-verified
