Your discussion about Inkbarrow and Alster reminded me that I meant to send an email on the subject of locations several weeks ago.
I've been listening to the Archers regularly for about 20 years.
When I first started listening, I read an article of the old, much-loved BBC Archers website, which listed the main Archers' locations.
and the real-life villages and towns they might be based on.
So I've spent the last 20 years thinking of Borsetshire as a fictional Worcestershire, the town of Borchester as Pershore, and further away, Felpersham, with its cathedral, as a fictional version of Worcester.
I had a bit of an existential crisis a while ago when there was mention of Brad going to watch the cricket at Worcester Cricket Ground.
I don't think I'd ever heard them mention Worcester before.
This felt really odd.
If Borsetshire is where Worcestershire is, then where the hell does Worcestershire fit in the Archers universe?
There isn't room for another city and county in between Birmingham and places like the Cotswolds and Stratford-on-Avon, which are sometimes mentioned.
Did anyone else find this really odd or was it just me?
My geography is too bad to find anything odd.
If they told me that they were off on a day trip to Jersey, it wouldn't baffle me the slightest, Charlotte, but the geographically gifted might have an issue with it.
