You saw Braden Montgomery, the former number 12 overall pick.

by the Red Sox, who the White Sox traded for at a time when he had never played a pro game.

Because, what, two years ago, he broke the ankle while at Texas A&M.

And when they made the deal, he still hadn't played a single game in the minor leagues for the Red Sox.

But they decided to trust the pedigree that he showed at A&M and at Stanford before that.

And he has skyrocketed through the system, torrid pace at Charlotte over the last couple weeks, and now here in the bigs, an unbelievably impressive debut for the switch hitter, including the walk-off home run.

And if you're going to have three position players helping you in a trade...

You know, what, less than two years after you dealt Garrett Crochet away, three position players helping you in a trade when you're going for a playoff spot?

That's an unbelievably impressive haul for a trade of a pitcher like that.

Well, as a prospect at Stanford, he was excellent.

But then once he transferred to Texas A&M, the power exploded.

And he went to A&M because the NIL deal was outstanding.

But he had 27 homers over the course of his time at A&M.

And he broke the ankle, which freaked some people out.
