And it's funny, because the first time I remember thinking, oh, this coach might be a point A to point B guy, and then you've got to hire somebody to be the point B to point C guy.
Yep.
The first time I ever remember really considering that was when Phil Jackson got the job instead of Doug Collins to finish the job for the Chicago Bulls.
And that was the context.
It was like, this guy is smart.
This guy's a great motivator.
This guy has some other kinds of thinking, and he's going to be able to get the most out of Michael after Doug had grinded and grinded and grinded to get the Bulls where they got to.
Just as we're sitting here, I'm realizing that's the first time I thought about a point B to point C guy.
And it might be a human touch of some kind.
It might be a thoughtful benevolence of some kind, like just on the personal level, that might not fully square the circle in the makeup of certain coaches like that.

But you couldn't see them being that goofy and connected under Thibs.
