joining Portsmouth when we've been talking about it since the 3rd of January now it's gone a bit quiet there was links to Oxford as well you mentioned about the managers Oxford have only changed their manager recently so I don't know does that change your opinion ever so slightly but I still imagine that the manager they have now will still resort to that more pragmatic style because they are down the bottom of the table and John Mucinio is under a bit of pressure Portsmouth at the minute as well now that being said look he's in my list as well I imagine he's in your list too Ben
yeah he's on my list so we've spent a bit of time on Andrew Moore in there but I think we are all in agreement that he needs a move I was actually surprised very surprised he got included in that last Ireland squad despite all of our injuries I was thinking if you're going to include him why include him in the last squad when everything was up against it and it was like oh my god this is
this should have been sorted that's my main takeaway from it it should be sorted already we shouldn't have to be talking about it I know it's up to the club of the age of course of course that's not directed straight at him but it's something that should be sorted we should move on to we've got a couple more players to go through here so I take up the I go next well obviously Andrew Moran is across the board here I've got a guy who hasn't actually played for Ireland yet but has been name checked in press conferences in recent times he is currently injured I believe Louis Barry
oh yeah Louis Barry Aston Villa obviously is you know it's a bit of is he going to play for England is he going to play for Ireland Hamer mentioned in the same press conference we first brought up CiarΓ‘n and Dewsbury Hall I think that one and he said yeah he's on the list of players that we're going to be able to choose from he spent the majority of last season on loan at Stockport in League 1 and was phenomenal newly promoted team and he was the best player in the league by a mile
Aston Villa recalled him in January sent him out to Hull where he picked up an injury almost immediately and missed the whole second half of the season so his stock didn't necessarily fall but his game time obviously did and was picked up by Sheffield United
at the start of the season who then had a similar managerial thing that you mentioned there Ben he's played a good few games at the start of the season under Ruben Celes when Sheffield United were absolutely dreadful which came back I suppose not to bite him necessarily but Chris Wilder came in and put his own stamp on things he's still got a couple of minutes but now he's injured I'm not actually entirely sure he could be back at Aston Villa now but he's definitely not going to be staying at Sheffield United until the end of the season
so it just depends on whether someone's willing to take a punt on a player who is exceptionally talented but hasn't been having his best season and is only just back from injury so I don't really know where that move goes it's obviously one I would say absolutely stay in England if he's going to be fit in time the injury is obviously key here
Yeah, so that's the thing.
Towards the end of the window, can he prove that he's going to be fit in time to make an impact on whatever team he decides to join?
In terms of the Ireland picture and him being available for selection for Hamer, it's going to have to be a championship move once again and he's going to have to tear things up.
I actually wouldn't be totally opposed to seeing him go back to Hull.
If he has any unfinished business there, they're a team who are over-performing and have some excellent young players there.
Joe Gellhart up front on loan from Leeds is a smashman player.
He's English.
And I think there's a good little culture there that he might be able to slot into.
Obviously, he hasn't been there before.
He'll know a few faces there.
So I would pitch Louis Barry to join Hull on loan if he can get back fit.
Yeah, three million quid.
I think he scored in that was it a Carabao Cup game for Aston Villa when they played Liverpool and Klopp put out or was it Klopp did something weird he was asking for Fabinho surely I think after the game I don't know it was a weird thing Klopp put out a weird team because they had like two games in a few days or something so he played two different panels or whatever so he's had some moments but yeah sorry I should clarify that of course we're talking about players here who need to do something for themselves to give themselves a chance of getting into the squad and he's someone who has been name checked hasn't been in a squad
