You hope after a once in a lifetime, or you hope it's not once in a lifetime, but it's such a memorable summer that coaches across the pyramid in both the men's and the women's game can find a level of cohesion because that's what the best countries have.
That's what France has, and that's what Argentina has, and that's what England has, and Spain obviously has.
If you can build that infrastructure, that foundation, that bedrock, the thing kind of takes on a natural momentum on its own.
And I do believe that, and there are good people, believe me, there are good people across the pyramid.
I've spoken to so many who've been involved in this game for so long.
They believe in development.
They love what Jesse Marsh is doing.
But it has to now come at the grassroots level with a real intention.
And it's a lot of nice words to say, but we'll really see over the next World Cup cycle as those kids are getting developed, both on the men's and women's side, for U-20 championships in CONCACAF, trying to qualify for the Olympics, being successful at continental tournaments.
And
showing or being standard bearers for qualifying, not only for the main World Cups, but for the U-17 World Cup, the U-20 World Cup.
These all matter because it shows a shared purpose in making this not only a successful sport for Canada within the context of North America, but making us what I believe we can be, which is a top 20 nation and even trying to push in to be a top 15 nation.
