There were very few commercial galleries in London at the time.
There were maybe five.
international contemporary galleries.
There must be over 100 now.
So it's really changed.
And the big museums and galleries, you know, the ICA was important.
Serpentine was doing shows.
Chisholm Hill was just starting out, really.
There was no Tate Modern.
Tate Britain would do one international show every five years or so.
There was the Turner Prize, which was a big thing.
But it wasn't that much going on.
And the whole art world was incredibly small.
You could fit literally the art world in this room.
You would go to an opening and everyone would be there.
And there would be two or three a week.
And everyone would go to the pub afterwards.
And everyone would be there.
All the artists, all the critics.
There were no collectors.
