in media organizations doesn't always make me the most popular figure in some of those spaces.
But from what I saw there sitting around some major news organizations was right in the aftermath, a lot of professionals trying to do their jobs and trying to figure out what happened, making calls and doing the hard work of journalism.
And I think that that stood in real stark contrast to when I started looking at my phone and seeing some of the people online who were
you know, pushing various theories for engagement on, you know, and truly not to do like a whole both sides thing, but I saw theories from various different angles that were kind of nonsensical.
And I think for as flawed as legacy and mainstream media
media can be and the mistakes that were made, even in the reporting that night.
I think that what I saw, you know, there, at least in the immediate aftermath was, you know, professional adults trying to trying to figure it out and piece stuff together.
And I think that's the kind of best thing that we can, you know, that is, that's the most that we can hope for in situations like that.
Yeah, I think that more and more what we've seen is when it comes to subscriptions, a lot of times this stuff is really tied to people's personal beliefs and people's personal politics.
I mean, we've seen this happen in the kind of positive way, right?
Like you've experienced this to a certain degree, Don, when you saw you were charged by the federal government.
Basically, you saw your subscriptions rise.
We've seen that.
uh and then we've seen the opposite of that right with the washington post when they decided that they didn't want to endorse kamala harris they lost a tremendous number of subscriptions i think that we've seen the reasons why people subscribe to things are either because they're getting some sort of value some sort of value that they need right in that moment i need to watch the white lotus because everyone is talking about it or that they want to support uh in some way uh and that's kind of those are the two reasons why i feel like most people subscribe to things
it's easier to graft onto news.
I think entertainment is a little bit trickier for the reasons that I just mentioned.
Like people may be upset, uh, about David Ellison and the direction that he wants to take, uh, CNN and CBS, but they really do want to watch succession again, or they really do want to watch the new season of the white Lotus, but it'll be interesting to see just how much people are willing to sacrifice.
I do have to say, uh, you know, just to Ben's earlier comment, it's, it's never good when your boss is, uh, is says that, uh, you're in a business that's, uh, that's, that's in trouble.
when referencing digital media.
So that I found to be a little bit worrisome.
