Um, and you know, you you kind of take a step back and think about what it means for the game more generally.

You know, those those first two wildcard teams, as as you know, like

The East is good, it has good teams, it's gonna send good teams to the postseason.

Um, but the the chances that we get a sub five hundred playoff team are non zero.

Um, and I I just, you know, I don't think it's a crisis.

We tend to overreact to the um, you know, whatever the bugaboo of the postseason is in any given year, and then everyone wants to re engineer the entire exercise to address a problem that may or may not recur.

I'm like, let's

see if we have it happen more more than once, but it's not great for the sport to have a team like that sneak in.

And of course you always have the possibility because there is so much randomness and these are short series that one of those teams could go far.

And then we're gonna have to have an entire discourse about what it means to have a sub five hundred team in the ALCS.

So I think that um good teams should just take care of business and spare us that.

Yeah, it's you know, you want there to be competition.

And I think that one of the great things about the AL East, for instance, is that you do have I'm sure it's frustrating to Blue Jays fans, but you do have some really good clubs that are routinely sort of beating up on each other.

And you have sort of an iron sharpening iron situation there.

You know, strangely we look at the NL Central and it's like, okay, the the Cubs are a good team, the Brewers are a good team.

You're gonna get good teams out of those divisions.

When we talk about a desire for competitive balance for fans to feel like their team is in it, I don't think this is what we mean.

You know, it's very funny for this to be the season that's unfolding ahead of what's gonna be a very contentious labor negotiation because Rob Manfred's whole thing is we want competitive balance, we want parity.

And it's like, well, Rob, you you're swimming in it.

And I don't know that the water's all that great.
