It was actually after Donald Trump won the presidency a second time.
My first instinct wasn't to run myself.
It was that we would need to run somebody.
I sincerely believe that money in politics is the greatest thing that's preventing us from passing things like Medicare for all and universal child care.
And seeing that the congresswoman had been taking millions of dollars from a lot of these different industries was a sticking point for me.
And so I asked around to see if there was anybody in our state house and in our city council that would be interested in running.
And I didn't.
and hear that anybody would.
And I think competitive primaries are so important, especially in moments of crisis like this right now for our economy and our democracy.
And I decided to run.
