And it's, when you learn those word families, it's kind of a cool.
interesting thing because you don't just learn how to write that word, but you understand how it relates to all those other words.
Absolutely, yeah.
And this is what children are learning.
So I guess, well, in a decade's time, we're going to have all these amazing spellers.
Do you have any particular stories?
I mean, you told the wonderful story of the girl who helped you
identify the slide as a tool.
But any wonderful stories of students you've worked with who have really just come on leaps and bounds or have made you think, this is why I do this?
To deliver that, you know.
Because it makes me wonder, how is he feeling about the rest of his learning or himself or poor kid?
And...
and the resource to do it, I guess, you know?
The fact that you were there as an intervention teacher, that helps so much.
But I guess it's also a message for parents who do have struggling readers to not be too disheartened that it can change with the right support, right?
Would you have a message, having been there yourself, as you say, would you have a message to those families?
And then I guess...
keeping up with oral language and the vocabulary in the meantime as a parent, you know, I guess parents probably feel like, well, we're not the experts in coaching or teaching structured literacy, but there are those other things you can do that
And I guess maybe modelling fluency and expression and all of those things at that age is useful as well.
