It seems pretty crucial.
I've heard people talk about it in terms of, oh yeah, when, you know, a teenager, when they get to the teen years, sometimes their behaviour kind of reverts to like toddler brain or the toddler meltdowns in some ways.
Is it as simple as that or is it, are there some similarities, but actually it's a whole new thing we need to understand as its own thing?
Is there anything you can do if you've, say, got a 7, 8, 9 or, you know, the kind of tween just before the adolescence type years to try and smooth the upgrade?
Try and, I don't know, when you're in the calm before the storm phase, try and prep children for being better equipped to handle the upgrade.
Yeah.
Well, aunties are so good because they kind of give you the, still give you that parental advice, but you don't, they're not so, like, too scary to tell my mum or, you know, you can open up a bit with them.
I have tried this tactic recently with my kids where if I know that they've perhaps made a mistake in the day or they've made a poor choice, then I will talk to them about something that I've done.
I'll say, I made a mistake today.
I did this and I really wish I didn't.
And I've now learnt and next time I would do this and I'll say...
do you have any mistakes, anything?
But they're normally like, no.
It's not going so well at the moment.
It sounds really good and theory to model that behaviour, but I'll keep you posted because it's not working at the moment.
That's that very day as well.
I like the term you used before, tolerable stress, because it indicates that actually stress is something that is going to happen to all of us, right?
And it's, I guess, understanding that so that every time it happens, it's not like a huge, unbearable, overwhelming feeling.
Is there anything that you can expand on in terms of what tolerable stress is or how you could talk to your adolescents about that?
Yeah.
