Is it because I really want to and it means something to me or I feel like I need to to make other people happy or impress them?
So it's a very personal decision.
Oh, gosh, that is a really tall order.
You know, I wish I could be more positive and hopeful in terms of shifting those beliefs, but it kind of feels these days like boiling the ocean, like we're trying to affect so much change at once.
Mm-hmm.
Where the belief system to change, I think, gosh, that needs to even go team by team, company by company.
Because if you even think larger than that, it gets so big.
So we're looking for a cumulative effect.
Yeah.
where the more and more people who do it, the more common it will become.
So I think the belief system of doing work with intention and purpose and doing it meaningfully is unfortunately not a widely held belief in practice by many, many companies, because not to sound like a brainwashed capitalist, but there's so many companies where all that matters is
is the bottom line.
And all that matters is keeping shareholders happy.
And all that matters is how the company is seen publicly on social media.
That is way more common than I would like to admit.
So for the companies who are led by people who want to be able to sleep at night,
I think that the goal is to try to see, well, how can we actually be a productive, profitable company without literally sacrificing the people who keep the ship afloat?
What are some ways?
that we can really take care of people's general well-being and make sure that they can talk about the daily struggles of living or the struggles of the work without villainizing them or punishing them for doing so as they continue to keep this company functioning.
I think that's the question because there's so much urgency and pressure around profitability and hustle culture.
