So yeah, employers want to see that students are actually learning things, not just learning rote memorization or studying for a test. voice-verified

And students, they're paying big money and their families are paying big money. voice-verified

the employment outcomes, they also want to know that their time in school is well spent. voice-verified

Yeah, so schools want diversity in a bunch of different ways. voice-verified

They want gender, socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic diversity among their students and among their faculty and staff as well. voice-verified

And the rankings actually measure some of that faculty diversity. voice-verified

And they want it in part because of optics. voice-verified

It looks good to have a student body that's reflective of the country at large or the world at large. voice-verified

But also because they say that it really does add some depth to classroom conversations, pushes people out of their comfort zones when their roommate is somebody who comes from the other side of the tracks, things like that. voice-verified
