Does it save time or money?
That's how you make yourself more invaluable to the role.
Yeah, and I think we feel that way because we've seen people do this really badly.
And that's the main example we have.
The reframe I will give listeners is to think about this as you are reporting the facts.
You are sharing information that the decision makers above and around you need to make informed choices about things that affect your work and your entire team.
If your manager or the leadership above them doesn't understand what you're doing, then your team is not going to get budget or headcount or the equipment that you need.
And so they need to understand that.
You're not inflating your accomplishments, but you are having more confidence in why they are valuable to the organization.
So you might say, let's say you're in a one-on-one with your manager.
And that week you worked on some new onboarding materials for a client that you've just brought on.
You may say, this week I finished the first draft of the client materials.
That means we're one step closer to having our documentation ready so that we can onboard clients faster and ultimately by the end of the year hit our goal of increasing sales.
So what most people do is they just report, I did the first draft of the table of contents for the onboarding materials.
So that's one thing I would say is to frame it as you are providing information.
The second one, and this is very tactical, is I call it we then me, which is when you are sharing something that you accomplished, you talk about the collective effort, and then you talk about your effort.
So you might say, you know, we're really excited about how the website came together.
