What are you hearing in terms of?
Are we going to be restructuring?
Does that mean we are eliminating roles?
Unfortunately, most people don't have that layer of trust with their manager.
So they have to be a little more tactful about coming at that information sideways.
You want to make sure you have advocates who understand the value that you are bringing to the table.
And that's something else we can talk about.
How do you build a case for the value that you are bringing to the organization?
It's all about figuring out, okay, you have this information, you're understanding what's happening above them.
Even if you work in a blue collar role, let's say you work at a retail store, you still want to understand in the next year, are we trying to increase business?
Are we trying to redo the format of our floor and our merchandising layout?
You want to understand those things because then that gives you information about
the highest value projects to align yourself with.
It also allows you to figure out how do I message or showcase what I am doing now to show why it's creating value.
And what I mean by that is most people focus on the tasks they complete every day.
They don't then go the next step to talk about why does it matter to the company, to the business, to their manager.
It's great that you completed that report, but so what?
Does it create some sort of efficiency?
