Jake and Melissa did a fantastic job of getting the content ready and making sure that it was all set.
And we're so happy with the final result.
I really enjoyed working on the analytics side and making sure that the back end was ready to go.
And so you're balancing collective effort, but also making sure that your individual efforts are not just forgotten or invisible.
I like to say optionality is power.
By that I mean a layoff is really painful, especially to your identity and your sense of self.
And that's even more true if you feel like you have no other options available to you.
And so during this time where everyone feels a bit uncertain about what's happening next, with so many of my clients, we've been focusing on having them feel prepared no matter what is next.
And very tactically, that means making sure we have brushed up their resume, I'm working with a client on her project portfolio, that their LinkedIn feels ready to go and they could reach out to people at a moment's notice.
That gives them the confidence and almost the relief that should something happen, I
I know that I could feel comfortable putting myself out there tomorrow.
And also, I mean, side effect, it's never a bad thing to have those things updated.
And from a very practical perspective, you may not have access anymore to data and stats that you need to make your resume strong.
So now is the time to do it.
When you have access to the decks you may need to reference or the spreadsheets, or you can tally things up, you have access to that information now.
So I highly suggest making it just a regular hygiene practice that every quarter you are refreshing your resume while the winds are fresh in your mind and you have access to everything you need.
You have to think about how am I diversifying my sense of self so that it is not all dependent on my job.
And in psychology, this is called self-complexity.
If we lack self-complexity, if we only see ourselves as I'm an accountant or I'm an engineer, whatever it is, then if that is taken away from us, then who am I?
