Because I do think people raise an eyebrow at them still.
And maybe that's happening less.
But I only developed an age gap friendship in my early 30s.
And I developed it with a woman named Mia Friedman, which is why I'm sitting here.
I think we're about 15 years apart, but gosh, I don't even know.
And what I value about it is that every single life stage I get to, she's been there, done that.
And she can just kind of give me like the one sentence advice on how to deal with that particular life stage.
One example is when I had my first child and I
I felt completely adrift in terms of my career and what I would do next.
And she said to me, don't make any career decisions when you're breastfeeding.
And I went, oh, okay, that's really good to know.
And then I just was able to continue with my sort of career discombobulation and not worry about it because my older friend had told me this was completely normal.
And I don't want to make it sound one-sided, but that is what I get from the friendship is her, for want of a better word, and she'll hate me for using this word, wisdom.
I appreciate her wisdom.
But what's she getting from me?
That makes me worry.
Do you feel okay with that?
Because one of my closest friends is very good friends with my mother, very independently of me.
And I think it's very cozy.
