A big part of what I did and wanted to do was because of Gus.

But I also, in my role, had to write things that he didn't like.

And we, I think we fell out over the time of Ivan Cleary getting the job at Penrith.

Because I was the first to report that Ivan had agreed to terms and Gus rang me, abusing me about that, saying it's wrong, it's wrong, it's wrong.

But I had pretty good mail that it was right.

And I didn't realize at the time that I was probably caught up in a power play internally from guys at Panthers who probably wanted Gus gone because part of Ivan coming back was to sort of usher Gus out the door.

In breaking that story, that triggered a whole, it was a snowball effect of people coming

starting to sideline Gus.

I didn't realize that at the time.

And, um, I think Gus sort of felt I was aligned with the other guys and, um, yeah, couldn't trust him.

There was different.

I just, in that one, I was confident.

Like I, in that one, I knew that was right.

You're standing around.

Yeah.

I stood my ground.

I said, I'm sorry, Gus, but my male's right.

Whether he knew at the time or not, I don't know.

I didn't realize, as I said, the power play of them wanting to move him on in the background.

But he probably felt undermined that I was part of that and that I had aligned with the other side of the organization.
