uh yeah uh i i yeah and i'll see you next week yeah right yeah i would say there's been a lot of discussion of what's happening in iran and you can hear members of congress give shifting language sometimes they call it a war sometimes they call it a conflict sometimes they call it an operation uh and you know for my perch on the hill that actually matters because congress is supposed to have power over authorizing more there's a big question over whether
this is authorized or not.
So there is a lot of discussion.
I think a lot of people here are very curious about where this goes.
There's been a long sort of awaited request from the Pentagon for more money.
And without knowing the full scale of what the administration is doing in Iran and what they plan to do in Iran, I think a lot of people on both sides of the aisle are really skeptical about approving more funding without a clear understanding of what the objectives
I think members of Congress are very sensitive to that and they're very sensitive to gas prices more than anything else, which is partially because the president made that such a major issue in 2024.
So they can't ignore the fact that voters are sensitive to gas prices and sensitive to the cost of this war.
I think the dynamic, especially in Congress, is that Democrats have really put Republicans on the back foot when it comes to talking about affordability, when it comes to talking about cost of living.
And I think we're seeing a lot of Democrats kind of say, hey,
There are a lot of things that people are worried about here at home.
They can't pay their bills.
Electricity is getting high.
Now you just made gas more expensive.
Why are you asking us to support this military incursion or excursion or operation or conflict?
I don't know which word they want to use, but I think there is sensitivity to that.
I think the flip side of that is, you know, there are Senate Republicans, especially who are hawks on Iran and they want to see more action.
They have, they like what the president's doing.
Yeah, I don't know where this takes us.
I mean, I'm sure you saw today that Republicans are talking about putting money for military operations into a bill that they can push through on their own using a special budget process called reconciliation that we don't have time to really get into the weeds of.
