I was down many years ago and my father died.

When he died, the week he died, to mourn him or something, I don't know what I was at, but I got the car, his car, and I drove off down to Clare.

And I ended up one night in a pub in Clare

It was owned by a fellow, Joe Galligan from Calvin, and it was a great music pub.

So there was good music in it.

There was a fellow, Paddy the Peckerdon was playing with a banjo, and he was a great musician, travelling man.

And there he was playing away, and I was there.

And really, you'd be hoping to get an intimate relationship with a young woman.

That's what I was looking for.

And there was loads of young women.

There was Germans.

There was Clare women.

There was Americans, right?

So it was like, as a country man, I'd say, well, you had your pick of them.

Well, I tried everything to kind of impress anybody that they might notice me at the bar on my own with the pint, and not a chance.

And I tried a few conversations, and no success whatsoever.

Do you know what I mean?

I'd be looking at myself in the mirror in the toilet thinking, you're no fecking good at all.

You can't do anything.

I'm there at the pub because I know who owns the pub.
