There's a lonesomeness in us.

And when this time of year comes, we just have to be talking to each other.

And I genuinely, I know that I talk to people now

in the coming months.

I will talk to people on the street.

I'll talk to my neighbours.

I'll see someone going up in a tractor and I'll say, hello, Paul, how are you today or something.

And all through October right to about February, I'd only be nodding at him or giving him, like, lifting one finger off the steering wheel.

You know, it's very minimal.

In winter, yeah.

And think of the houses before there was central heating, when there was one room with one fire.

And that was it.

I remember this.

When you're children, you'd remember it maybe.

You'd have fights with people as to who was sitting near the fire.

Even you'd be watching TV and you'd say to somebody, one of the siblings, you'd say, move over and let me sit there for a while.

Because the heat you got at the fire...

was just like sufficient.

And then at the far end of the room, you were perished.

It's like the hunched over image that you say is how we lived the winters.
