Absolutely.

I think it would be deemed as quite a rare find.

And a planetary atmosphere like this has really never been spotted before.

Now, Michael Zhang, who I mentioned earlier, is one of the team from the University of Chicago who came across this planet.

He explained that in order to have molecular carbon in the atmosphere, you have to get rid of pretty much everything else.

All of the oxygen, all of the nitrogen, everything.

Now, this is because usually carbon will bind to other atoms like oxygen to create carbon dioxide, for example.

But that has not happened in this case.

And it has even more stranger features, Marnie, you know.

A full year on the planet, that is the amount of time it takes to complete one full orbit around its host star, lasts only 7.8 hours.

Can you imagine that?

Now, Zhang himself describes the planet as a sort of evil lemon, as it is probably, you know, deep red with clouds of graphite in the atmosphere.

But for now, Marnie, this evil lemon remains a mystery.
