You know, I mean this was a relatively new event coming out of the 60s and 70s, along with the supposed constitutional right to abortion and contraception and all the rest of it. matched

Whatever you think about the individual issues, all of this leads into this problem. matched

So then my response, getting back to the original question on this policy debate, but even tying it into the bigger issue. matched

You got some people who come out and they say matched

Even if it doesn't expand the welfare state, even if it doesn't make a new program, even if it doesn't add a penny of spending, because it would be better to abolish the welfare system. matched

It would be better to just cut taxes and send the money. matched

And I'd say, yeah, sure, there are a lot of things that would be better. matched

But my question is: are we going to take these incremental wins, even in modest ways, where we can find them, to just nudge people in the right direction, nudge the incentives in the matched

I want incentives to tell people to go to church and and to to their broadly to their religious services once a week at least. matched

I want policies that broadly say read the Bible in schools. matched

I want the RSVCE or the Du-A Reams, someone else wants the KJV, whatever. matched

But I I just I want these wins that are nudging people in the right direction, that discourage divorce. matched

The the one really big success of the Hungarian family policy is. matched

is it did encourage marriage, which is something. matched

You know, it's not everything they wanted, but it's something. matched

And so the I guess the question for the GOP is, are we going to take these incremental wins and deal in the political reality that we find ourselves in right now? matched

Or are we going to say, no, I want the perfect solution. matched

I want to go back to, you know, pre-welfare state 1934. matched
