When you have embodiment, and and I study embodiment not just in the three-dimensional world, but embodiment in these other spaces.
And I think it actually um it actually applies perfectly well to all these other problem spaces that life works in.
Um, there are many constraints that guide what's going to happen.
But there are also another thing that's kind of amazing is that in addition to the constraints, there are also these um
ways that that you can offload an awful lot of computation onto the environment.
It's like and and this is what this is what they show when they have these robots and and other things that basically there is no controller that has to handle all the things that has to happen.
They're basically letting the environment do the compute for them.
And I this is this is something very new uh in our lab that we're just getting into is asking what does that look like in these other spaces?
What does it look like to offload transcriptional pro problem solving, physiological problem solving, anatomical problem solving to the rules of these other spaces that absolutely provide constraints that will guide uh subsequent events?
But in addition to the constraints, they they're also helping out.
I mean, that's that's the part that I think is is is, you know, really, really wild is that
Uh there's actually all kinds of uh benefits that that come from that, that where the environment is is actually helping you do the do the thing that you want it to do.
And and the and the other thing that that I track a lot are um patterns that arise not from physical facts.
In other words, there are mathematical structures, uh, there are laws of uh computation, laws of uh geometry of number theories, all these things that evolution, I think.
Uses a lot.
Um, they it uses them as as in effect free lunches because you can save an awful lot of uh evolutionary compute time if you can just be handed certain truths uh from you know uh from from the laws of mathematics and computation.
And and I think those are especially interesting because they're not the uh many of them are not determined by physical facts.
They wouldn't change if you shuffle the constants at the Big Bang and things like that.
And so um
Those kinds of uh causes that are not the traditional, you know, why did this happen?
