It's got some sort of a a coherence to it that's actually quite adaptive, you know, in these new environments.
So that's what I'm really interested in is that that kind of problem solving where
it it goes beyond uh filling in and and kind of out into completely novel scenarios, you know.
It it yes, yes, by the way, absolutely.
I know I I a hundred percent agree.
I think that the uh the reason that that these living things have all that plasticity is because th they're never actually committed to the standard embryonic uh story anyway.
They they'll they'll take that story under default circumstances, but I don't think they with with very small exceptions, maybe nematodes, you know, where all the cells are numbered and they kind of all do this the exact same thing.
The vast majority of us uh
uh love living things I think have to have to solve this issue from from from the beginning.
Yeah, I I agree with that.
Yeah, I would say that I would say that the genome is not um so much a memory of the past world as much as it's a memory of how to uh uh of various tricks that together can comprise a problem solving agent that then might be exposed to the same things that you were exposed to before, but actually might not be.
And long term you you know that you you can't just stick with what you have because you know you're going to be mutated.
Your own parts will change, the environment will change, right?
So I've uh in most recently I've been really working on the implications of uh biology as a very unreliable medium and the fact that uh unlike uh unlike current uh computational devices, it's not about error error correcting in the sense of let's stick to the right to the same meaning of the data that we had before.
Conversely, we we we know that nothing we see is uh real reliable.
And uh and and our past uh ways of dealing with things cannot necessarily be counted on.
And so what successful uh life forms do is is is create problem solving agents that do their best, you know, kind of beginner's mind kind of thing from from from the from from scratch.
So I would say, yeah, I think I think more and more I that that's what I think uh the genome is actually giving you is a is a is a bag of uh information processing um tricks
As opposed to specific solutions for specific past problems.
Yeah.
