And it's the commitment of neuroscience that if we could decode this, so this is the uh project of neural decoding, if we could decode this, then we would be able to read out the memory.
Memories, the goals, the preferences of this of this animal.
And so that is what we would like to do.
But outside the brain, we want to do it for the rest of the body.
And the reason that's possible.
is because actually this amazing system of using bioelectricity to uh integrate information, store memories, and guide intelligent behavior is way older than brains.
It in fact uh evolved around the time of bacterial biofilms.
It's an extremely ancient.
And in fact, every cell in your body has these ion channels.
Most cells have these electroquillal synapses to their neighbors.
And uh your tissues uh are running these electrophysiological networks.
And so you might ask the question, what what do they think about?
We know what our brain thinks about.
What do the body tissues think about?
And so uh I'm I'm going to tell you that that one thing they think about is shape.
They think about arranging uh the body in the correct shape and then maintaining that against aging, against injury and against cancer.
And we can start, um, so so here, much like much like this video of this of this brain, we can start taking uh a look at the the bioelectrical uh signals.
