So we'll make some sort of suggestions through these displays and give you a kind of view, if you like, of what is the most likely, you know, the most likely patron and how it was made, et cetera, et cetera.
And then that information hopefully will give people
what they really need to be able to maximize seeing the Bayeux Tapestry itself.
But it is obviously quite direct and it's aimed at a broad audience as well.
So obviously if people want more in-depth information, they're going to have to go elsewhere for that.
So basically, when you're at this high level, there's a cavity, a space, that allows you to get your first glimpse, it's more than a glimpse really, to be honest, of the whole of the tapestry.
I mean, obviously, you'll be seeing a kind of line of people looking at the Bayer Tapestry, but essentially, you'll be able to get your first impression of the extent of the tapestry.
And actually, when I've been up there and looking down, and it is a pretty fascinating view.
What we're also doing is on the walls in various places is we've got kind of quotes from chroniclers at the time that kind of reflect the mood of 1066, giving a sense of those different voices to those that are kind of presented in the Bayeux Tapestry.
And as you know, some of those authors like William of Poitiers and William of Jumièges, they're quite extravagant in the things that they say about this period, whereas the tapestry itself is a little bit more balanced and sort of terse.

both in terms of people kind of using something hard against it and also kind of liquids and things like that.
So, you know, that's certainly in the plans that there would potentially be someone that does this.
Obviously, it would be a disaster if the tapestry was damaged and we're certainly doing everything to avoid that.
And obviously, I mean, I'd say to anybody who's mindful of making a protest, you know, not to do anything that could potentially damage the artifact because I don't think that would do anyone any good.

Well, I think the fact that the Bayeux Tapestry is such a famous object in itself, the fact that it is this earliest representation of the Norman Conquest, and it is in a media that people kind of relate to, I think people are going to be surprised when they see the Bayeux Tapestry, if they've never seen it before, about how bright, in some ways, the colours are.
Okay, they've faded over time, but I think people will be surprised.
They kind of won't believe, actually, this object is...
you know, almost a thousand years old.
