Then a sneaky guy in a trench coat, also played by you, tries to get the camera guy's attention.
The trench coat guy flashes open his coat to reveal some news articles.
He says, Hey, that's gonna take place.
Yeah, you.
You want any real news?
And the camera guy says, This is news, I think.
And the the trench coat guy says, Despite what Tim Apple and Google Maps would have you think, he can't just change the name of a body of water with an executive order.
The trench goat guy goes on to talk about the real news, like the fact that ICE has arrested thousands of people who don't have a criminal background.
And to me, this was like a really fresh way of talking about something that's become far too normal, which is that the Trump administration tries to distract us, the media and the public all the time.
When did it occur to you that the sketch was a winning formula?
With the 24-hour cable news cycle and just generally just the onslaught of news, it's just really exhausting.
And it feels less like I'm reading the news and more like all of this is happening to me.
And that sort of sketch format where I almost sort of just describe to the viewer or show them how it feels to me, I think that's makes it feel more sincere, adds to that.
