61 years ago today, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act into law.

And some days, I really do wonder what Martin Luther King Jr.

and Medgar Evers and John Lewis would think if they were here today and witnessed the current state of voting rights in America.
matched
After all, it hasn't even been four months since the Supreme Court drove the final stake into the heart of the Voting Rights Act.

and emboldened Republican leaders across the country to redraw their maps to dilute democratic, and let's just be straight up honest about it, black power to help them win elections.

matched
So to that point, because of your travels in the spaces and places that you've been in, have you seen any evidence of voter suppression working during primaries in states that have redistricted where, you know, there is that all out effort?
matched
Sometimes it's mass, but at the end of the day, there's an all out effort to make sure that certain voters don't find their way to the polls.
matched
OK, so from from what you've just said, you know, this ongoing effort that many of us have been raising flags about how this administration is just screwing around with the elections to to really muck it up and to know on the backside of the election.
matched
Right.
