And I want to leave you tonight with one final thought.
The speech that wraps around the building you see behind me is from President Obama's You Are America speech, the one he delivered at the 50th anniversary of the march across the bridge in Selma back in 2015.
And in those remarks, he focused on one word, the word that in his view is the most important in the Constitution.
He was talking about the word we.
We the people, we shall overcome.
Yes, we can.
A word that ideally should stand as an invitation to everyone.
Unconstrained by habit and convention.
Because the single most powerful word in our democracy is the word we.
We the people.
We shall overcome.
Yes, we can.
That word is owned by no one.
It belongs to everyone.
The president like no other is back where it all began, opening a new chapter on the South Side of Chicago.
