And she took enormous backlash just for retweeting that post.
I think so.
I think that's really the way to look at this, that streaming is now considered the primary way that people view things.
That for sports means, you know, you've got your property rights to the different leagues, the NFL, the Major League Baseball, the NBA.
Those are expensive.
Those broadcast rights or streaming rights are expensive.
And so when you're juggling that with all the infrastructure that it takes to make sure you get your streaming right and you've got talent, it is a very different environment than it was, geez, just when I left in 2022.
I was shocked when I read that, too, and I dove a little deeper into it.
Apparently, there were some people inquiring with the network, hey, we're hearing rumors about this.
We're going to go with it unless you answer us.
And they thought, my gosh, what if Ryan's on the air, he looks down at his phone in a commercial break and sees that he's being laid off?
that would be worse than if we just told him in a commercial break, hey, you're being let go.
It's not a pretty way to do this, but given social media and that nobody waits anymore to break news, they want to break it as long as they're right, they made that difficult choice.
Well, you see the investment they made in Pat McAfee, who was a former NFL punter for the Indianapolis Colts, and he started this huge online presence.
And it grew
and grew and grew.
And so, yeah, that's an interesting turn of events.
Pat is a personality.
He's not a play-by-play guy.
