Since the war began with Iran, the Pentagon has implemented changes on how it records injuries and casualties through its official database.

ABC Steve Bainan covers the Pentagon and joins us.

Steve, first of all, what is the casualty count that we know from this public-facing database?

The Pentagon has changed how it's accounting for the dead in Iran.

What's the distinction that the Trump administration needs to make also congressionally to support starting those numbers over?

And Senate Democrats, as you mentioned, are trying to take action led by Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois.

Of course, she served and she introduced legislation to keep the Pentagon from changing how they categorize the casualties.

So we've contacted the Pentagon said this is not acceptable, but it's why I'm introducing a bill to ban the Pentagon from ever doing this again.

So the American people can truly know what the cost of combat operations that we're engaging in it really is.

And we know that families across the US or the world who have loved ones that are being served are also wanting to have accurate numbers easily accessible as well.
