This is designed to treat melanoma, but there are dozens of studies looking at this in all kinds of cancers, in lung cancer, in pancreatic cancer, colon cancer, uh a wide array.
So this is the first sign scientifically that on a large setting compared to other kinds of treatment that this works.
They've added um more than $40 billion in in market capitalization.
Uh and what investors are are really showing is a revival of interest uh in Moderna as a company in this idea of a vaccine uh against cancer.
The results are also positive for Merck.
Uh they are very well known uh, you know, within the cancer community for K Truda.
It's a powerful immunotherapy that treats
multiple types of cancer, uh, they are set to lose their patent exclusivity on that drug uh in in a number of years.
And so the possibility that combining Ketruda with a cancer vaccine, that that could create a whole new treatment avenue, uh, creates new possibilities for Merck.
The degree to which we're going to find out something new about the pandemic is really not clear.
But what we do see is a real, you know, sharp focus on one person who was involved in the US pandemic response.
When, as we know, there were many people, both in the Trump administration at the time, across US states, global health officials, you know, different countries.
countries, health officials, um, you know, were all part of the decision making process.
Uh and and many of them actually pursued sort of policies that were similar to what the US pursued at the time.
