Stephen Colbert is calling out his own network, CBS, for barring him from airing an interview with Democratic Texas State Rep James Tallarico, who's running for U.S.
Colbert revealed that the network's legal team called the late show staff directly and told them.
The interview could not be broadcast and was also instructed not to raise the matter on air.
Ben proceeded to do exactly that, walking his audience through the FCC's equal time rule, which requires broadcast networks to provide opposing political candidates equivalent airtime.
The host took aim at FCC Chair Brendan Carr and referenced a January 21st letter in which Carr suggested the exemption should no longer apply to talk show programs he characterized as being motivated by partisan purposes.
