The letter, co-signed by lawyers for the American Federation of Teachers, the AFL-CIO, and Reporters Without Borders, warns that Disney's board may have breached their fiduciary duties by putting political or affiliate pressure ahead of shareholder interests.
The group claims Disney lost $4 billion in value last week after the abrupt suspension.
The letter gives Disney five business days or face possible legal action.

The company says it's removed more than 75 million spam tracks over the past year, and now it's rolling out new rules.
First, a stricter policy on voice clones, AI-generated vocals, are only allowed if the artist gives permission.
Second, a new spam filter launching this fall to flag duplicates, short tracks, and other AI-generated slop that can drain royalties from real musicians.
And third, a new disclosure standard so listeners can see if and how AI was used in a song.
Spotify says the goal is to protect artists, keep fraud out of the system, and give fans more transparency as AI changes how music is made.
