And then we got further and further away.
We would be no more than 30 yards or metres.
We were no further than that away from the ship.
When the ship just came out of the water, the stern disappeared under the water.
And it was an amazing point of vision where the accommodation has disappeared under the water and the hatches and the bow and anchors were sticking up in the air.
And the only thing I thought of is if that ship comes back down and lands on us, we are toast, absolutely gone.
And as luck, and we didn't get much of it, it went straight down and disappeared.
And there was not one thing on that surface of the ocean that would have indicated that someone, the ship had just sunk somewhere in this vicinity.
It's quiet, actually.
I watch TV and all that stuff about the war and ships and whatever.
I expected to see big heaps of bubbles coming out of it and jets floating on the surface, but there was nothing, absolutely nothing.
Absolutely.
In fact, I think a number of us described it as a bunch of school kids, you know, all excited about the fact we're alive.
What state was the captain in?
He was absolutely in shock.
