In the old days, including when I started, that never happened.

Guys, just you finished and you walked away.

And that was, okay, what'd you do for 30 years?

I don't know.

I was in import export or I was at the state department or some bullshit.

So it was never done.

And then it started to shift slightly when I left.

um i wasn't going to leave uh overtly right so in other words i wasn't going to leave and be able to say where i'd been but there were some senior folks there who knew that i was leaving um i was taking care of my daughter i was raising her and and i had to find another job i had to find something where i was home right or at least closer to home and um

And so they knew that and they were very good about it.

They said, look, here's what you need to do.

If you're going to start a business, which is what the plan was, I was going to start it with another knucklehead who came out of the British teams.

And he said, then this is a good idea, right?

You should be able to say where you came from because... And they were smart enough to see that.

If I was going into a business where I was...

in the private sector in strategic intelligence and investigations and risk management, security services, it's beneficial to say I did that rather than I was selling rugs or whatever.

So they were very good to me.

But your agreement is that you don't

up that relationship.

You don't talk about things you're not supposed to talk about.

So nowadays it's completely common.
