A chargeback is when you ask the credit card company to investigate and force a refund from the merchant back to your account.

And the reason retailers don't like it is they've got to fill out a bunch of paperwork, they often have to pay a fee even if they win,

And if they have a lot of chargebacks, there can be fines, increases to their service fees, and a bunch of other problems they don't want.

Now, just because you make a chargeback request doesn't mean you're going to win.

And big retailers are so used to chargebacks that the threat of another one from you isn't going to upset them very much.

But chargebacks are one of the strongest consumer protections when merchants won't play fair.

And that is something you should know.
