And something that me and the team have been working on for a long time, and it was only last week that the Prime Minister announced their home energy fund, which is essentially the exact policy that we've been asking for for quite some time, which is to figure out how to get that low interest finance out.

given that there are green loans what is the significance of that policy from the national party or is it about the longer term because obviously the the low rates from the banks are only for sort of three to five years so look at you know Nadine I'm not sure if you've ever you know experienced those really high-end nightclubs where you know you're lining up for ages and then you get to the door and then you get rejected on the spot for no reason right but it's incredibly frustrating but the way that I would describe the green loan club is one of those high-end nightclubs right two percent

of the households of New Zealand have managed to get one of these.

And four out of five people will get rejected at the door.

You know, they're pensioners that don't have a big enough mortgage anymore or they don't have enough income in order to be able to get one of those green loans.

And they're people that don't, you know, they're single income families that can't get one of those green loans.

There's so many different reasons why New Zealanders aren't able to get access to that really low interest finance.

And so what this whole scheme is about is, well, okay, let's look at, say, 3% to 4% interest rate over 30 years, and we'll put that on the property.

And it won't be income tested because the savings will pay it back.

And that's what makes this really, really exciting.

And also one of the big things I'm on is how do we make it easy?

We've got such a busy mum problem in New Zealand where your listeners are thinking about this right now and going, oh, this is a great idea, but...

other things.

I've got other things to prioritise at the moment.

So how do you make it really easy?

And if you've ever applied for one of those green loans, they're not exactly easy things to get.

You probably need a university degree to wade your way through some of those application processes to even get that loan in the first place.

So how do we make it easy for New Zealanders to make better decisions about their energy futures, drive down prices for New Zealanders?

And that's something that we've been working on for a long time that the Prime Minister picked up yesterday, which has been what I've been thrilled about.
