There have been some major escalations in the war in Ukraine recently, with that country launching wave after wave of new strikes on Russian targets going deep into enemy territory.

Russia is even now blaming this weekend's bombing in central Moscow on what they call a Ukrainian terrorist scourge.

Let's bring in ABC's Tom Sufi-Burge to break it all down for us.

Tom, this weekend we saw a series of pretty aggressive attacks on Ukraine by Russia and vice versa.

What's the latest on the ground for us?

And again, going after those kinds of targets, Tom, what does that really tell us about how the Ukrainians are positioning themselves in this war?

OK, so with all that in mind, then, Tom, we saw Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visit Washington in the last few days.

He was there for the funeral of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, but he also met with President Trump.

So my question to you is, what do we know about how this new era of the war is changing the president's thinking about the war in Ukraine?

Right.

And we should also mention here, this increased aggression isn't just on the Ukrainian side.

Over the weekend, Russian strikes on Kiev killed nine people there.

Yesterday, President Trump approved about $30 million worth of federal relief aid to both West Virginia and Missouri to help those states recover from, among other things, devastating rain and flooding.

It's a good reminder of just how steep the costs of recovering from a flood can be after the waters have receded.

And that's especially true if those residents in those areas don't have flood insurance.

A new ABC News investigation finds that many of those who are in flood-prone areas don't have flood insurance.

Some because of a common misunderstanding around the flood maps drawn by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
